So for any readers who aren't familiar with Hinamatsuri, it's a Japanese holiday that combines the display of traditional dolls, wishes for future happiness for girls in a family, and food like the super-cute tri-colored rice cakes known as Hishimochi.
The Dolls
We won't know how the special event items will look until they're released, but let's speculate! The dolls are displayed like this:
so maybe one of the sets (there are usually two from what I've seen of special event furniture) will be primarily red with yellow, green, black, white, and tan notes. I've seen many sets of dolls, called Hina-ningyo, in slightly different colors but there's always a red platform. I hope there are some beautiful dolls and a display platform for us to buy. I doubt I'll invest in a whole set with this motif/these colors, but I'm interested in picking up a few stunning pieces.
The Food
For the second set, I thought the pink, white, and green colors you see in the food of Hinamatsuri would make a gorgeous set. Maybe food-themed furniture, maybe just a food items to set on tables, counters, etc. We already have a lot of food furniture as it is with the Birthday, Sweet, and Biscuit sets. Anyway, this is all a guess, so we'll just have to see! Speaking of seeing, check out these beautiful and delicious Doll's Day foods and just imagine your gorgeous new pastel-colored dream room!
Pretty colored candy, rice cakes, and decorative peach blossoms go together nicely into what would make a beautiful furniture set.
Floating the Dolls
There's also a tradition of sending boats of dolls out on the water to take away any evil or misfortune. Sometimes this means little boats constructed of leaves holding paper dolls that get swept away and lost forever and other times it means solid wooden boats holding Hina-ningyo that are retrieved after the festival. Maybe there will be an aquatic component to one of the sets of items?
The little paper dolls floating away on natural boats are cute, and the wooden boats piled high with traditional dolls are amazing! Which would you rather have to decorate your Happy Pet Story home?
The Clothes

A c olorful, more modern kimono is another possible outfit HPS would make available to buy since almost every picture I've seen from Hinamatsuri features women and girls dressed beautifully for the festival.
